Economic Recovery Taskforce

Brisbane City Council is taking action to help rebuild Brisbane’s economy by delivering initiatives under our Economic Recovery Taskforce.

The Taskforce has been set up to bolster and rebuild Brisbane’s economy in the wake of coronavirus and will drive Council’s contribution to the city’s recovery over the next few years.

Feedback from Brisbane businesses

From Tuesday 12 May to Friday 12 June we asked business owners and operators, via an online survey, how Council could help businesses get back on their feet.

Council received survey responses from more than 720 local businesses. Of those businesses surveyed we found that:

  • 31% wanted help to cover the everyday costs associated with running their business in the short term
  • 26% wanted Council to spend its money locally
  • 31% wanted our help sourcing customers
  • 33% asked Council to advocate for more state and Australian government support
  • 41% of businesses said that when it comes to long-term support, growing our local economy is their number one priority.

What Council is doing
