Brisbane City Council is part of a growing network of community gardens and city farms around Australia, providing residents with places to meet and grow healthy food in their neighbourhoods.

Community composting hubs help to reduce the amount of organic waste we send to landfill. Residents living near hubs can regularly contribute their kitchen scraps to community garden compost bin. Getting involved in your local composting hub is a great way to meet new people, stay active and help keep waste out of landfill.  

The Habitat Brisbane program helps community groups restore natural habitats in parks, remnant bushland, wetlands and along waterways. View the groups in or near your suburb of Brisbane.

Brisbane City Council's Lord Mayor's Community Sustainability and Environmental Grants program provides funding to groups and individuals across Brisbane to carry out projects that improve Brisbane's natural environment and sustainability.

Share your passion for Brisbane's natural environment, learn about the reserves around you and give back to your community by volunteering at one of Brisbane City Council's environment centres.

Council's Creek Catchments program has officers based across Brisbane who work with community catchment groups to protect and restore catchments.

Community Conservation Assistance (CCA) is available to individuals and groups to deliver on-ground works within priority biodiversity areas for projects that otherwise would be difficult for community groups to undertake.
