Young people have a lot to contribute towards a vibrant and creative Brisbane - as cultural innovators, artists, performers, curators, writers, producers and creatives.
Our vibrant, creative city is one of eight themes in the Youth Strategy 2014-2019: Delivering a youth-friendly city.
The other seven themes are - active and healthy, smart and prosperous, accessible and connected, friendly and safe, clean and green, well-designed and subtropical, and New World City.

Key facts and findings
The following trends and issues affect Brisbane young people:
- struggling young artists find it hard to earn a living
- there are not enough all-ages music venues and events in Brisbane
- there is a strong desire for art and exhibition spaces
Our vibrant and creative strategies for young people
As a Council, we want young people in Brisbane to:
- enrich our communities and be empowered to take risks, be innovative and make statements
- have access to pathways and development opportunities that help them make a living from their work
- come together with young people from different cultures to create fresh, edgy music, dance, performance, and art that reflects Brisbane's youthful enthusiasm for new experiences
- have access to and enjoy a wide variety of arts and cultural activities, events and festivals in both traditional and alternative spaces and venues
To achieve these outcomes, our vibrant and creative strategies for young people over the next five years include:
- negotiate industry pathways for emerging artists
- provide accessible and affordable arts spaces and events venues
- showcase outstanding young artists and creative ideas
- communicate the impacts of graffiti and support alternative positive contributions
