Our vibrant, creative city - Youth Strategy 2014-2019

Young people have a lot to contribute towards a vibrant and creative Brisbane  - as cultural innovators, artists, performers, curators, writers, producers and creatives.

Our vibrant, creative city is one of eight themes in the Youth Strategy 2014-2019: Delivering a youth-friendly city.

The other seven themes are - active and healthy, smart and prosperous, accessible and connected, friendly and safe, clean and green, well-designed and subtropical, and New World City

Our vibrant and creative strategies for young people

As a Council, we want young people in Brisbane to:

  • enrich our communities and be empowered to take risks, be innovative and make statements
  • have access to pathways and development opportunities that help them make a living from their work
  • come together with young people from different cultures to create fresh, edgy music, dance, performance, and art that reflects Brisbane's youthful enthusiasm  for new experiences
  • have access to and enjoy a wide variety of arts and cultural activities, events and festivals in both traditional and alternative spaces and venues

To achieve these outcomes, our vibrant and creative strategies for young people over the next five years include:

  • negotiate industry pathways for emerging artists
  • provide accessible and affordable arts spaces and events venues
  • showcase outstanding young artists and creative ideas
  • communicate the impacts of graffiti and support alternative positive contributions
