Creative Sparks Program 2019 grant recipients

The following Creative Sparks grants projects were approved in May 2019.

Successful grant recipients receive funding to implement creative projects, develop a professional practice or foster creative entrepreneurial partnerships with Brisbane artists and cultural workers.

The project will provide opportunities for young culturally and linguistically diverse performers to develop their singing and dancing skills. Participants will have the opportunity to perform at a monthly open-mic night at venues across Brisbane.

This is Me

The project provides film production training for marginalised people who have a physical or mental disability. The project will offer training centred around producing a short film that is written, directed, filmed and edited by the participants to express their story.

Dots+Loops 2019

The project will present a collaborative ensemble of music, art and performance through a series of public activations. The project culminates in a mixture of traditional classical orchestra, contemporary electronic music and experimental art performances at inner city venues.

The project provides a platform for local artists to further develop their professional practice through the creation and delivery of a new and exciting film and music performance titled Kin Makers.

Allegory of Reality

The project will develop and create an interactive virtual reality installation through the use of commercially available hardware such as head-sets and movement mapping sensors. The project will culminate in a public exhibition at Outer Space Gallery, South Brisbane.

Infusion

The project will support the creative development of a new performance interweaving poetry and circus. The performance will be presented at the Queensland Poetry Festival in August 2019, at The Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts, Fortitude Valley.
