Healthy and Physical Activity Grants

Brisbane City Council's Healthy and Physical Activity Grants provide funding to local not-for-profit community groups for projects to increase participation in community sport, recreation and physical activity in Brisbane.

Projects that achieve one or more of the following criteria may be eligible for funding:

  • to increase community participation in sporting and recreational activities through innovative programs and activities
  • to increase the community's health through participation in physical activity
  • to support community organisations to develop new sport and recreation opportunities in Brisbane
  • to generate long-term, ongoing participation in physical activity.

Funding available

Funding amounts range from $5000 to $20,000.

Funding round dates

Applications for this grant are now open and will close at midnight on Monday 27 February 2017.

Applicants for the 2016-17 round will be notified of the outcome of their application in early June 2017.

Eligibility

An applicant should be an incorporated not-for-profit organisation.

An unincorporated not-for-profit organisation may also apply, under the auspices of an incorporated not-for-profit organisation able to accept legal and financial responsibility for the applicant’s project.

Applicants must operate within the Brisbane City Council Local Government Area (LGA).

Applicants must not have any overdue Council grant acquittals or outstanding debts with Council.

Submit your application online. The online application system allows you to save, develop and print out applications before you submit them.

Acquittal reports for successful applicants

If your application is successful, you will be required to complete an online acquittal form within 12 months of grant approval notification.

Grant recipients with overdue acquittal reports are not eligible to apply for grants.

If you believe your community group may have an outstanding report from a previous grant funded project, phone Council on 07 3403 8888 and ask to speak to the Grants Unit for advice.
