March 2025 weather event review
A review of Brisbane’s response to Tropical Cyclone Alfred was conducted and made public in May 2025.
Highly-respected former Governor and Supreme Court Chief Justice Paul de Jersey conducted an independent Review of Council’s response to the extraordinary weather event which took place in March 2025, Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
Mr de Jersey completed the 2022 Brisbane Flood review and provided 37 recommendations to Council, which have been completed or actioned.
About the review
The 2025 Review assessed the extent to which the recommendations from 2022 Review were met and the effectiveness of the recommendations. The Review also evaluated how Council responded and performed during the event based on the differing nature of the weather event.
Reviewing how Brisbane prepares for severe weather events is very important. Conducting an independent review ensures Council can continue to improve our approach to preparation and planning.
