Junior Explorers: Bug Detectives (6 years+)(with iNaturalist)

Meet some of the Environment Centre’s resident insects and other mini-beasts at a fun bug show, then test out your detective skills on a short walk investigating bugs and their habitats. What will we find living nearby? Learn how you can help these bugs using citizen science app, iNaturalist. Join this one-of-a-kind school holiday activity to discover fascinating facts about bugs and other mini-beasts and find out why these amazing animals are nature’s superheroes!

Please Note: This activity is for the general public. If you are a daycare or vacation group interested in attending a similar activity please send an email.

Requirements:

• Please arrive 10 minutes early to check in with staff at the centre.
• All children must be directly supervised by an adult.
• All participants must wear a hat, sun-safe clothing, fully enclosed walking shoes (no thongs or open shoes please).
• Bring insect repellent and sunscreen for later outdoor use if required, but please ensure you don't have any on your hands when meeting or touching our friendly bugs!
• Recommended: Download the app "iNaturalist" before attending.
• Bring water and a snack if required as there are no food outlets on site.

Note: This event will go ahead in light rain. Events are subject to weather and environmental conditions and may be cancelled on the day.
