A Seat at the Table

A Seat At The โต๊ะ (Table) reimagines the gallery as a communal space for gathering and exchange, where food becomes a conduit for exploring identity, sharing intergenerational stories, and deepening connections to cultural heritage.
Through lens-based storytelling and installation, the exhibition explores the continuation of cultural practices while amplifying Australian Asian stories and identities.
Venue: Outer Space, Judith Wright Arts Centre, 420 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley
Seat at the Table and Outdoor Kitchen presented by Outer Space, is part program activities for Moon Festival presented by Brisbane City Council.
An additional exhibition 'Outdoor Kitchen' will be on Saturday 4 October, 3-5pm. Bookings required.
Outdoor Kitchen is a participatory installation that reimagines the gallery as a dining space, where cooking and conversation become tools for connection.
Exhibiting Artist, Ellamay Khongroj Fitzgerald, will prepare congee with a mish-mash of Eastern and Western ingredients, reflecting on her own bi-racial identity and the way she navigates the space between two cultures. This event will be followed by an Artist Talk with Ellamay Khongroj Fitzgerald and Mariam Ella Arcilla.
