Join us at Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha as we celebrate the health and wellbeing benefits spending time in nature as part of Botanic Gardens Week 2026.
Botanic gardens are uniquely placed to support health and wellbeing because they provide accessible spaces that promote physical activity, restore mental health, foster social connection, and strengthen our bond with nature – all of which are proven to increase overall wellbeing.
Nature Journalling: Slow down, observe closely, and capture the subtle colours and textures of what you see in the Gardens as you write, draw and paint - no prior experience needed.
Bush Collage: Immerse yourself in the natural art studio that is the Botanic Gardens and create an ephemeral nature collage with coloured leaves, sticks, seeds and flowers provided. Follow in the footsteps of artists such as Andy Goldsworthy of the Art in Nature movement and connect with the beauty around you as you create an artwork to leave for others to enjoy in our 'gallery'. Don't forget to bring your camera to take a photo of your finished piece!
Both activities are free with no bookings required. Head down to the Waterlily Lakes and stick around for Bands in Parks at the Bandstand!
