Join us at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha to celebrate the health and wellbeing benefits of spending time in nature as part of Botanic Gardens Week 2026.
Botanic gardens are uniquely placed to support health and wellbeing because they provide accessible spaces that promote physical activity, restore mental health, foster social connection, and strengthen our bond with nature.
Enjoy arts activities at the Waterlily Lakes by slowing down and capturing the subtle colours and textures of your surroundings as you write, draw and paint as a part of Nature Journalling. Or follow in the footsteps of such artists as Andy Goldsworthy of the Art in Nature movement and add your flair to a collage with coloured leaves, sticks, seeds and flowers provided from the gardens.
Take one of our Free Volunteer Guided Walks from the Visitor Information Centre or follow our coloured markers along one of the many walking trails.
Stroll to the Bandstand at 2pm for Bands in Parks: Mt Coot-tha Open Day. Join Sunnybank Brass with the glorious vocals of Izabella Cihajic as they celebrate Open Day in the botanic gardens. Music will feature a sparkling selection of big band favourites blending rich brass sounds with smooth vocals. Perfect for all ages, it’s an afternoon of melody, fun and community spirit not to be missed.
All activities are free with no bookings required, drop in and enjoy!
