Bush Kindy: Stanley the Brush Turkey

Join this special Bush Kindy story-time with local co-authors Louise Zirbel and Rachel Salmon as they share their book, Stanley the Brush Turkey. Settle in under the trees in the grounds of Downfall Creek Bushland Centre, home to the centre’s own bold and busy brush turkey residents and follow Stanley as he makes his way through a barrage of backyard obstacles in search of the perfect nesting spot. After the story, children can enjoy playful brush turkey-inspired activities.

Bush Kindy is for children aged 3-5 years, alongside their parents and carers. Be immersed in the natural surroundings of the reserve as children build nature confidence and respect for the environment through bushwalks, exploration, story-time, art 'n' craft and much more. Bush Kindy sessions can go for roughly 45 minutes and will go ahead in light rain. Themes and activities vary each week.

This activity is for the general public. If you are a daycare or vacation group interested in attending a similar activity, send an email.

Requirements on the day:

• Arrive minimum 10 minutes early to check in with staff at the centre.
• All children must be accompanied and directly supervised by an adult.
• Wear a hat, sun-safe clothing, fully enclosed walking shoes (no thongs or open shoes please), sunscreen, and bring insect repellent.
• Suitable old clothes recommended for messy play.
• Water and a snack if required, as there are no food outlets on site.
