Plants produce various aromatic compounds, essential for interacting with pollinators and herbivores, while also stimulating our senses of taste and smell. On this walk, we’ll explore plants responsible for popular flavours like vanilla, coffee, and chocolate. We’ll discuss the journey from plant to industrial product and how these goods reach consumers. A portion of the walk will be spent in the Kitchen Garden, where we’ll uncover interesting details about fruits and vegetables. This experience offers a deeper understanding of the plants that influence our everyday flavours and food products.
Requirements: This walk involves a very leisurely pace, walking short distances, frequent stops as needed, no or only minimal stairs, mainly flat ground. This walk is suitable for individuals who use either walkers or wheelchairs. Please wear a hat, enclosed walking shoes, and be sure to bring a water bottle and sunscreen.
Meeting point: Meet at the Visitor Information Centre.
Note: Walks may be subject to environmental conditions and guide capacity on the day.
