Lake Day

Lake Day is a free community event designed to help residents connect with the wildlife, habitats, and waterways that make Forest Lake such a special place. The event combines hands‑on environmental activities, interactive learning, and family‑friendly experiences that highlight how our everyday actions influence the health of the lake. 12 noon – Meet the pollutants art show.

• View local student artworks about residential pollutants and how they affect Forest Lake.
• Explore results from macroinvertebrate testing.
• Join in BCC litter‑pickup activities.
• Meet your local Bushcare volunteers and learn how you can get involved.

12.30pm – Free sausage sizzle.

• Enjoy a free sausage sizzle thanks to generous support from community partners.
• A great opportunity to connect with neighbours, volunteers, and local representatives early in the day.

1-2pm – Wildlife show with Wildcall.

• Enjoy a live wildlife presentation featuring a crocodile, turtle, lizard, snake, possum/glider, and bat.
• Hear practical tips on keeping local wildlife safe, including wildlife‑friendly netting, possum boxes, and responsible bird feeding.

2-3pm – Meet Your local representatives.

• Share your concerns, ask questions, and discuss ongoing efforts to support the lake and surrounding environment.

3-4pm – Continue exploring Lake Day activities.

• Revisit the art show, catchment map, and macroinvertebrate displays.
• Chat with Bushcare volunteers and learn how to get involved.
• Join litter‑pickup activities with the BCC Litter Team.

Location: Lake Stage. Hosted by the Desoto Place Bushcare Group, and supported by the Oxley Creek Catchment Association, Cr Charles Strunk, Margie Nightingale MP, and Milton Dick MP.
