Lord Mayor's City Hall Concerts presents 守破離 – Shu Ha Ri.

Performed by Gen絃 as part of BrisAsia Festival 2026.

守破離 守破離 – Shu Ha Ri means to bridge between tradition and innovation. Brisbane-based koto master Takako Haggarty joins forces with award-winning guitarist and composer Phill Wilson to explore the evolving boundary between classical Japanese music and contemporary interpretation, rooted in decades of disciplined training in their respective traditions.

This one-day special concert features guest artists Carl Rathus on the meditative shakuhachi (Bamboo flute) and the graceful Japanese dance by Junko Thompson. This unique performance invites audiences into a world of refined sound, elegant movement and a finely balanced harmony between past and present.

This Lord Mayor’s City Hall Concert is produced by Salubrious Productions.
