Platypus conservation in Qld with Dr Tamielle Brunt

Join us for an exciting evening with Dr Tamielle Brunt on all thing’s platypus, from their ecology and behaviour to the conservation efforts underway locally and statewide.

Dr Tamielle Brunt is an ecologist whose research focuses on platypus populations in southeast Queensland, working to understand their long‑term persistence and elevate their conservation profile. She is also the Projects Coordinator at Wildlife Queensland, where for more than a decade she has led the regional environmental DNA (eDNA) monitoring program, collaborating with communities and stakeholders to track local platypus populations.

Through her research, advocacy, and on‑ground conservation work, Tamielle hopes to strengthen protection for this iconic species and overall, the freshwater ecosystems across Queensland.
