Discover the traditional craft of coiled basketry at Heritage Hands Festival: Sandgate with contemporary fibre artist Monique Ross of Heartwood Nature Bathing.
In this relaxed, hands-on workshop, learn how natural raffia fibres can be transformed into beautiful, sculptural forms through wrapping, stitching and coiling.
Monique will introduce foundational techniques and guide you through creating form, texture and structure. With prepared starting pieces, you'll be able to get straight into making and develop your own handcrafted piece.
Suitable for beginners, with no previous basketry experience required. All materials are supplied.
Part of the inaugural Heritage Hands Festival: Sandgate, celebrating traditional crafts, specialist trades and the people keeping handmade skills alive.
Proudly sponsored by Brisbane City Council. For more information, visit Heritage Hands Website.
