Pomanders were a popular fashion accessory in Elizabethan times. They were carried, held to the nose, suspended on chains or girdles, or hung in rooms to scent the air. It was believed that these sweet-smelling herbs and spices could ward off miasma (bad smells that cause infectious diseases) and protect the wearer from illness (eg the plague).

Make your own pomander from a handful of simple ingredients. Fresh limes, cloves and ground cinnamon is all you need for this classic holiday craft. They'll protect you from the plague for years!

Drop in any time from 10am-2pm. This event is suitable for 6-16 years. Children under 16 are to be accompanied by an adult.

Requirements: Wear a hat and enclosed shoes; and bring a snack and keep cup or water bottle.

Location: Meet at the Auditorium Lawn.
