As a part of the RQAS Workshop Festival, artist Scott Breton will be running a tutored life drawing session.
In this 2 hour classically oriented class, Scott will provide participants with the two core approaches he uses to rapidly improve the ability to see in spatial, anatomical and gestural essentials. This will give a good overview of what he teaches in longer figure drawing courses and provide actionable drills that can be taken away and practised.
The core approaches focus first on developing a clear strategy for viewing the figure as a whole, capturing accurate proportions and simplifying the overall form, and then on constructing the torso - the central nexus of the figure and the source of gesture - by working through key anatomical landmarks. Scott will begin by demonstrating each activity to the class and will then move around the room to offer individual demonstrations and guidance where helpful.
This workshop is suitable for attendees 18 years and above of any experience level. For more information on the workshop and material list, visit Scott Breton website.
Please note: This workshop will be held in the upstairs studio gallery which is only accessible via a flight of stairs.
Free entry to the exhibition, running Wednesday to Sunday 10am to 3:30pm.
