Do plants feel the cold? Some trees seem to clutch their leaves tightly to them during the winter months and some like to drop them all. Come and explore our Temperate Region Plants during our Winter Hub school holiday activities and see ‘who drops a lot’.

Explore the deciduous tree trail, do a watercolour painting and write about your favourite leaf. Learn about leaf shape and venation, take home a critter made from botanicals, and a frame woven with collected fallen leaves you find to remind you of your winter fun at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens.

Bring a picnic blanket and lunch to enjoy on our grassy lawn.

Requirements: Children under 16 are to be accompanied by an adult. Please wear a hat and enclosed shoes.

Location: Meet at the Temperate garden.

This workshop supports the Botanic Gardens' commitment to creating a plant loving community dedicated to putting the plant back into Planet.
