Join local children’s author and illustrator, Meredith Downes, as she introduces you to the world of wildlife storytelling for children. Be inspired and unleash your creativity in the heart of Karawatha Forest.
Meredith will explore the different aspects of crafting wildlife stories for children and young adults, from character development to world-building and storyline. Through writing prompts and guided exercises, she will help participants to begin their journey writing wildlife stories that bring the page to life.
This session pairs perfectly with Meredith's upcoming 'Illustrating Wild Worlds for Children’ event on 1 November. Attend one or both to help guide your creative adventures.
Requirements: Please bring pens and a notebook or digital device of your choice.
Continue the adventure after the session with a visit to the environment centre and a gentle walk through the stunning Karawatha reserve - a wonderful setting for gathering ideas from nature.
About the Presenter:
Meredith Downes is a children’s author and illustrator from Brisbane. She loves to draw and write adventures about all the quirky animal characters of the Australian bush she has met at home and on her travels across the country. Following the release of her debut novel for kids, “Liam the Chid and the Kangaroo Warriors”, Meredith is currently working on the next book in the “Liam the Chid” series for release in 2027.
