About Moggill Cemetery

Moggill Cemetery was established in 1856 but the first burial at this location is thought to have been in 1855.

It’s believed the site was originally a church graveyard associated with a former Methodist Chapel erected nearby.

An isolated bush cemetery, it suffered from the ravages of time, overgrowth and vandalism. Many of the early monuments had to be removed because they were broken or unsafe.

As there is no map for Moggill Cemetery and limited information recorded in the burial book, it's not possible for Council to accurately confirm where each burial took place.

Moggill Cemetery is an historic cemetery, with no new graves available. Ashes interments in existing family graves may be possible.
