Join or start a book club

Join a book club to meet other book lovers and share your thoughts about your latest read.

New members are always welcome at library book clubs. You can also kick off your own book club.

Book clubs meet in homes, cafes, restaurants and bookstores across Brisbane.

Council libraries also host book clubs throughout the year.

Starting your own book club allows you to choose your favourite themes and genres.

All you need to do is decide on your meeting location and times, members and books.

Before you begin, you might want to ask yourself some key questions.

  • Am I looking for serious literary debate or light-hearted discussion?
  • Where will I look for members? Will I invite friends, or will I contact libraries and bookstores?
  • What’s the ideal size for my book club? A smaller group may lead to more intimate discussions. Larger groups bring diverse perspectives.

Libraries are here to help. Talk to our staff about:

  • choosing and ordering books for discussion
  • bookable spaces for book club meetings.
