Wetlands in Focus - Boondall Wetlands Photography

Calling all photographers!

Photographers are now invited to submit an image that celebrates the rich ecology of Ramsar-listed Boondall Wetlands. This competition is open to anyone who lives, works or studies in Brisbane.

Entries open at 10am on Saturday 8 November 2025. They close at 4pm on Friday 9 January 2026.

Before submitting your entry, read the competition’s terms and conditions.

Selected winners will have their image showcased on the Boondall Wetlands Environment Centre Community Art Wall.

Boondall Wetlands

Brisbane's largest wetlands is made up of approximately 1,150 hectares of unique habitat, including trails and boardwalks to explore.

Opportunities for artists

Expressions of interest to contribute to the Boondall Wetlands Environment Centre community art wall for 2027 are now open.

Council aims to celebrate and promote environmental awareness through art in our environment centres. We select works from local artists and community groups that reflect themes such as sustainability, biodiversity, and connection to nature.

For this opportunity, we're searching for artists at any stage of their career who have a connection to, or interest in, Boondall Wetlands or the Greater Brisbane environment. We do not charge artists to display on our community art wall.

How to apply

  1. Download and complete the expression of interest form.

  2. Submit your expression of interest by email, with completed form attached, and examples of your artwork as high-quality images (maximum of 3).

Children’s trail 

Are the kids tagging along? Keep them entertained and walk the Hide 'n' Seek Children's Trail through the wetlands.

Free native plants 

Bring your paid rates notice from the current financial year to claim 2 free native plants.

Group bookings

Contact the centre to organise a visit for groups of more than 30 people.

You can drive and park at the environment centre, or you can take the train from Boondall station.
