About Banks Street Reserve

Located in Alderley, Banks Street Reserve spans more than 20 hectares. The reserve is just 5 kilometres from Brisbane's CBD.

Banks Street Reserve includes bushwalking tracks, bike riding trails and picnic areas. It also features a large open space that was once a market garden.

In the 1800s, the reserve was part of the Three Mile Scrub rainforest. This remarkable area attracted naturalists and picnickers who came to experience its diverse forest environments.

Today, remnants of the rainforest are still evident in the reserve.

Tracks update

Tracks in the reserve may have been impacted by rainfall and overland flow during ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred. Large washouts, ruts and uneven surfaces may be present on some tracks.

Make sure you exercise caution and be mindful of the increased difficulty on some tracks.

The reserve provides easy, moderate and hard multi-use tracks for both walking and cycling, as well as moderate walking-only sections.

The terrain varies, with stairs in some sections. Numbered intersection markers help navigate the track network. 

The reserve also includes bikeway connections that link to the broader cycling network.

Banks Street Reserve's extensive, diverse bushland is home to a variety of native wildlife and plant species.

The reserve includes areas reminiscent of the wet rainforest that once flourished along Enoggera Creek to the higher slopes that historically supported dry rainforest.
