Sandgate District Neighbourhood Plan

Brisbane City Council has finalised the Sandgate District Neighbourhood Plan which includes the suburbs of Sandgate, Deagon, Shorncliffe and Brighton.

Council is committed to growing our city while maintaining the character of our suburbs and planning for the future.

This project is just one way Council is ensuring Brisbane is a city of neighbourhoods, where residents are close to the services they need and the lifestyle and leisure opportunities they want.

Project status

From mid-2019 Council worked with local residents and other stakeholders to prepare the Sandgate District Neighbourhood Plan. The revised neighbourhood plan was endorsed by Council in June 2022 and sent to the Queensland Government for Minister’s consideration.

After receiving the plan back from the Queensland Government, the final Sandgate District Neighbourhood Plan was presented to Council on 29 November 2022 and received support to proceed to adoption.

The new Sandgate District Neighbourhood Plan took effect in Brisbane City Plan 2014 (City Plan) on 10 March 2023.
