Colmslie Industrial Precinct

Brisbane City Council has commenced planning for the Colmslie Industrial Precinct to create a clear direction for the area’s future. This precinct forms part of the Australia TradeCoast, and has been identified for industrial renewal under Council’s industrial strategy, Brisbane: Our Productive City.

An initial project survey undertaken from 20 March to 2 April 2023 received more than 670 responses that highlighted 3 key priorities:

  1. providing certainty about appropriate land uses in the area
  2. improving connectivity and safe movement within the area
  3. enhancing open space and recreation areas that are valued by the community.

The Queensland Government is undertaking a review of the South East Queensland Regional Plan 2017 (ShapingSEQ), which will provide updated guidance for planning within the region. Completion is anticipated to be in late 2023 to early 2024 and has impacted the timeline for Council’s planning for the Colmslie Industrial Precinct.

Council cannot make major policy decisions during the ‘caretaker’ period before the local government elections scheduled for March 2024. Any proposed amendments to Brisbane City Plan 2014 will not be progressed until after the election outcome is declared.
