Water rebate program

Use this page to find out about Brisbane City Council water rebates available to not-for-profit organisations leasing Council sports fields and greens.

Background

On 10 September 2019, Council announced new support for not-for-profit organisations leasing Council sports fields and greens to help them prepare for forecast drought conditions. This support recognises the valuable services these organisations provide to the community.

Water rebate

Council will provide one-off financial support to not-for-profit organisations that lease sporting fields and greens from Council by paying half of the Urban Utilities retail water charges for the 2019-20 financial year, capped at $5000.

Organisations do not need to apply for this rebate. Council is intending to commence distribution of this support in line with the next Urban Utilities billing cycle in January 2020, backdated to 1 July 2019.

Smart water meters

Council has also committed to the installation of 100 smart water meters at identified sporting facilities, providing real-time and remotely available information about water usage to help identify and rectify leaks, reducing excess water usage and associated costs.

For further information about smart water meters, or water funding support, phone Council on 07 3403 8888 and ask to speak with the Community Facilities Operations team.
