Changes to community hall capacity

From Friday 25 September, hirers of Council’s community halls are required to ensure that there are no more than 30 people gathered together unless the hirer undertakes their activity in accordance with a relevant COVIDSafe industry plan.

This requirement ensures that all community halls operate in accordance with the new health directive from the State Government for gatherings.

The Rochedale Community Hall is an old church cottage recently relocated to its current position on the edge of the new Rochedale Village complex.

The hall has a unique chapel feel including high ceilings and original features. Recent refurbishment works to the interior and exterior of the building include modern upgrades, disabled access entry ramp, kitchenette, air conditioning, and accessible toilet facilities.

Small fridge only. Bathroom amenities within the hall limited to one accessible toilet. Cutlery or crockery not provided. Not a commercial kitchen.

The commercial hire rate applies to all businesses and government organisations (hall and meeting rooms). Community groups charging fees for their events and or an entry fee are also subject to paying the commercial rate.


Bond - low risk
Medium and low bond both depend on the number of people, and will apply to events with no alcohol, time of day e.g. children’s party early afternoon.

Bond - high risk
Applies to all evening events. Events with security guards, birthday parties, engagement parties, wedding receptions or any other event having alcohol.

Advanced AV hire
If advanced AV hire is required, a daily rate applies. Advanced AV hire is available at Hamilton, Sandgate, Wynnum Community Centre, Wynnum Municipal Hall.

Key bond
Fully refunded on return of all keys.

Public holiday fee
Community halls are available for hire on public holidays. All normal fees and charges apply, plus an additional fee to cover public holiday salary costs for cleaning services.
