King George Square

King George Square is Brisbane’s premier public square located in front of Brisbane City Hall, Brisbane City. The square is home to a variety of events and activities and is available for hire. Council requires a permit for vehicle access for works in the square. Peaceful assemblies also require approval.
Activities categorised as busking are not permitted on King George Square. Council do permit busking in the Queen Street Mall and Valley Mall, through City Malls Management.

Event bookings 

King George Square offers a range of spaces suitable for corporate events, product launches, civic ceremonies, festivals, concerts and exhibitions.

Community groups can apply for assistance with hire costs by completing the City Hall and King George Square online application. Ensure you have received a quote from Epicure before completing this form.

Vehicle access for works

Council requires a permit for vehicle access for works in King George Square. Vehicles with a combined gross vehicle maximum (CGVM) of less than four tonnes are permitted access from:

  • midnight-7am Monday to Friday
  • 2-7am weekends.
