About the project

Brisbane City Council has created more to see and do in Brisbane by delivering a new off-road cycling skills track to D.M. Henderson Park, MacGregor.

D.M. Henderson Park is located at 434 McCullough Street, MacGregor and is home to a variety of facilities, including a playground, dog off-leash area, and a BMX bike track. The Bulimba Bikeway also runs through the eastern side of the park. The park is also the site of a number of sporting facilities, including rugby fields and netball courts, and is home to the Sunnybank Rugby Club and MacGregor Netball Association.

The Brisbane Off-Road Cycling Strategy identified an opportunity to enhance the current recreational facilities by installing an off-road cycling skills track in the park. The strategy was released to the public in late 2021.

Project details

The D.M. Henderson Park off-road skills track is located near the existing BMX pump track to complement this facility. The track uses natural elements, like sandstone blocks and hardwood, to create an off-road experience.

The facility includes:

  • three individual tracks for a variety of skill levels
  • various range of obstacles including sandstone blocks, hardwood beams and boulders to create an off-road experience.

Works began in late May 2022 and are now complete.
