Minnippi Golf Course development project

Brisbane City Council is working with BMD Properties Pty Ltd (BMD) to deliver a public golf course behind the residential precinct at Minnippi Estate in Cannon Hill.

Minnippi Golf Course will be the first new public golf course in more than 70 years. The new course will be the only public golf course south of the Brisbane River. It will be in addition to Council's existing golf course at St Lucia and provides opportunities for players to join with friends and test their skills.

As part of the development agreement between Council and BMD, BMD was responsible for remediating the former Cannon Hill tip prior to construction of the Minnippi residential precinct and public golf course. Remediation works were fully funded by Council.

BMD started works to construct the Minnippi residential precinct in late 2016 and several stages are now complete.

Remediation works for the site started in May 2015 and all construction works were completed in July 2023. The project includes the following stages:

  2. Construction of the residential precinct (stages 2, 3 and 4)

Environmental impacts

Works will be undertaken in accordance with an approved environmental management plan. Council will support BMD in the implementation of the plan to ensure all necessary precautionary measures are undertaken to minimise environmental impacts.

Development approval conditions have also been imposed to ensure appropriate rehabilitation is undertaken and that all habitats are managed, and ecological features are preserved.

The environmental management plan includes provision for the amelioration of impacts to the squirrel glider population within the project site.

The adjacent Minnippi Parklands, Preston Road Park and Meadowlands Picnic Ground will not be impacted by the development.
