Project details

The Cutters Landing Riverwalk is a pedestrian and cyclist shared path suspended over the Brisbane River adjacent to the Cutters Landing Apartments.

Council maintains a regular inspection and maintenance schedule of all Council-owned riverwalks, including the Cutters Landing Riverwalk. During maintenance inspections, Council identified that some of the concrete deck panels and supporting sections of the riverwalk showed cracks and early signs of corrosion to reinforcement and concerns related to remaining service life.  Works are underway to repair and replace elements of the boardwalk to reinstate service life of the structure and ensure the riverwalk remains safe for ongoing community use.

Works are being delivered in two stages. Stage 1 includes rehabilitation of the revetment wall that runs for 170m along the length of the riverwalk. Stage 2 includes rehabilitation of the riverwalk structure including repair and replacement of some elements including deck panels and beams.

Construction details

Stage 1 rehabilitation works undertaken for the revetment wall included concrete repairs, filling cracks in concrete elements, corrosion prevention, and the reinstatement of rock protection where required. These works started in early June 2021 and were completed in late October 2021.

Stage 2 works include rehabilitation of the riverwalk structure including repair and replacement of some elements including deck panels and supporting beams, concrete repair works and application of corrosion protection to the sub-structure. These works began in early November 2021 and are expected to be completed by August 2022, weather and site conditions permitting.

Most of the works have been completed with the contractor now working underneath the riverwalk to repair concrete. Nearby residents may notice some increase in noise during this time.

Works will generally be undertaken between Monday and Friday, between the hours of 6.30am and 6.30pm. Some out of hours works or Saturday works may be required to take advantage of favourable tide conditions.
