Green Bridges Program procurement

The Green Bridges Program provides multiple opportunities for industry to be part of delivering vital city-shaping projects for Brisbane.

Industry briefing

On 21 August 2020, Brisbane City Council provided a briefing to industry representatives. The briefing provided an update on the Green Bridges Program and upcoming procurement opportunities for the Kangaroo Point and Breakfast Creek Green Bridge projects.

Kangaroo Point Green Bridge

Following an extensive procurement process, Council has awarded the contract for the design and construction of the Kangaroo Point Green Bridge to Connect Brisbane, led by BESIX Watpac.

Connect Brisbane is a consortium of bridge design, engineering and construction specialists led by BESIX Watpac, who are head officed in Brisbane, and include Rizzani de Eccher, WSP, Dissing + Weitling, Blight Rayner, ASPECT Studios, Right Angle Studios and Rowland.

The consortium’s experience spans global and local projects including Perth’s signature Matagarup Bridge and Dubai’s landmark Water Canal Bridges.

Connect Brisbane is now working with Council to complete the detailed design and construction of the Kangaroo Point Green Bridge, with the project expected to be complete in 2024.

Breakfast Creek / Yowoggera Bridge

Following an extensive procurement process, Council awarded the contract to construct the Breakfast Creek / Yowoggera Bridge (formerly Breakfast Creek Green Bridge) to Georgiou Brady Joint Venture in March 2022.

The Georgiou Brady Joint Venture is a Brisbane-based civil contractor comprising Georgiou Group Pty Ltd and Brady Marine & Civil Pty Ltd with more than 70 years combined experience in delivering projects in Brisbane and the surrounding region.

The joint venture team specialise in design management, procurement, construction and installation of complex steel and marine infrastructure in highly sensitive, constrained working environments.

Construction started on the Breakfast Creek / Yowoggera Bridge in mid-2022 and was completed in February 2024.
