Kangaroo Point Green Bridge dining venues

More than just a bridge project, the Kangaroo Point Green Bridge will become a must-visit destination for residents and visitors to Brisbane, leaving a lasting legacy for generations to come.

In addition to the new river crossing, the final design of Brisbane City Council's city-shaping project features two unique riverside dining venues, including an above-water restaurant and bar on the bridge, and a new riverside café at the city landing plaza.

Featuring stunning views of the Brisbane River, CBD, Story Bridge and Kangaroo Point Cliffs, the two waterfront food and beverage venues will deliver something truly unique to Brisbane and a dining destination that becomes a quintessential part of Queensland.

Operator announced for new dining venues

Following a competitive tender process, the Tassis Group has been selected as the successful operator for the two unique riverside dining venues.

Currently operating local favourites including Massimo Restaurant and Bar, Yamas and OPA Bar + Mezze, Council is confident the Tassis Group will deliver something truly unique to Brisbane.

The restaurant and café are planned to be operational at the time of bridge opening in 2024.

The venues

Bombora - Above-water restaurant and bar

Paying homage to its unique location, the above-water restaurant and bar is appropriately named Bombora, an indigenous term for large sea waves which break over a submerged reef or sand bar.

Offering locally sourced steak and seafood, Bombora will provide a world-class dining and drinking experience above the water, with a mix of both casual and formal seating including a private dining room.

The larger of the two dining venues, Bombora will be elevated above the bridge deck on the approach to the city landing, affording panoramic views of the CBD, Brisbane River, Story Bridge, Kangaroo Point Cliffs and City Botanic Gardens.

Mulga Bill's - Riverside café

In keeping with the active transport theme of the bridge, the riverside café will be named Mulga Bill’s, drawing inspiration from Banjo Patterson’s poem.

Mulga Bill’s will serve wood fired pizza, steak and seafood, plus grab 'n go offerings including pastries and coffee and the option of picnic boxes to take into the surrounding parklands and public spaces.

The riverside café will be located at the city landing and entrance to the City Botanic Gardens and Kangaroo Point Green Bridge, capitalising on a new urban plaza being created where Edward and Alice streets meet the Brisbane River.
