New Year's Eve fireworks road closures and traffic changes

We're creating more to see and do across the city this New Year's Eve with a fireworks display along the Brisbane River that will be bigger and better than ever before!

A spectacular light show will set the night alight from barges at South Bank, Eagle Street Pier, Howard Smith Wharves and Portside Wharf.

There will be two fireworks shows - one at 8.30pm for families and one at midnight for late-night revellers welcoming in the New Year in style.

Celebrate one of the biggest events on Brisbane's calendar by securing a spot at one of the many vantage points on offer, including South Bank Parklands, Eagle Street Pier, Riverside Plaza, Waterfront Place, Howard Smith Wharves, Portside Wharf, Wilson Outlook Reserve, Captain Burke Park and Kangaroo Point Cliffs.

Plan ahead and arrive early to get a good view of the fireworks.

There are multiple traffic changes for the staging of New Year's Eve celebrations, with road closures and changed traffic conditions progressively implemented from Monday 30 December 2019. The closures are essential to ensure the safety of spectators and will be implemented by Queensland Police Service and accredited traffic controllers.

Note: locations and times of road closures and parking conditions are subject to change due to operational requirements.
