Brisbane's New Bus Network

Link copied

Our evolved bus network better connects you to the people, places and activities you love.

Keeping Brisbane moving

Council launched a new bus network in mid-2025 alongside a new Brisbane Metro route — M1 from Eight Mile Plains to Roma Street.

The new network and metro services has improved reliability and increased capacity to get you where you need to go, sooner and safer.

By linking local buses with turn-up-and-go metro services, we’re providing more services, more often.

Voiceover:

Brisbane is growing and we need public transport that grows with us.

Brisbane City Council and the Queensland Government are investing in your bus network to keep Brisbane moving.

2025 will deliver the biggest change to Brisbane’s bus journeys in over a decade.

Brisbane’s New Bus Network and Brisbane Metro services will move more people, more often, making the shift towards turn-up-and-go bus rapid transit.

Your local buses will connect with major busway stations.

These connect to metro services, which run every five minutes on weekdays and 24-hours on weekends - as well as other high-frequency bus routes.

For Brisbane, this changes the way we travel. It may mean transfers, new bus stops, new routes or using a different bus service.

Brisbane’s New Bus Network will help reduce congestion across our city and help you get home sooner and safer.

The new network is just the beginning, with plans to increase high-frequency buses and expand Brisbane Metro.

It’s turn-up-and-go time, Brisbane.

The new bus network officially started on Monday 30 June 2025. We've streamlined services and introduced Brisbane Metro to improve reliability to get you where you need to go at the times you want to travel.

To meet the transport demands of our growing population, Council in partnership with Translink completed a detailed review of the bus network and developed a new network purpose-built for our city.

You shared your feedback on the proposed network changes as part of city-wide community consultation in 2022. We received over 5,000 pieces of feedback, and further refined the bus network based on that feedback.

The first stage of the new network has simplified the south-east and inner-city bus corridors and provided more turn-up-and-go high-frequency busway and metro services for our city.

Our reshaped network paves the way for further network growth and lays the foundation for future stages in the northern, western, and eastern corridors.
