Brisbane: Making our Mark

We're an Olympic and Paralympic City seeking ideas that can be delivered in partnership with communities, industries and government.

Join us in shaping Brisbane's Games legacy

We’ve reached an exciting milestone on the green and gold runway to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Games are sparking inspiring ideas and creating opportunities for our city.

Hosting the Games is about much more than 4 weeks of spectacular sport. It's about building a legacy that begins well before 2032 and lasts long after. We want to ensure the benefits reach every part of Brisbane—our residents, communities and local businesses.

We're inviting the community and our partners to help us turn great ideas into reality. Together, we can seize this once-in-a-generation opportunity to deliver long-lasting outcomes for our Brisbane.

Voices of Brisbane - legacy ideas

We invited some of our city’s youth, residents, businesses and sports people to share their voice on ideas that could benefit our city for decades to come.

Explore the inspiring ideas and vote for your favourites. You can also contribute your own voice or share your feedback on the below ideas.

You can vote, share your idea or provide feedback until 11.59pm on Sunday 15 March 2026.

Our path to legacy

Our legacy journey spans from now until 2042 — covering the lead-up to the Games and the 10 years after.

We're currently in the listening phase and we want to hear from you.

What makes a great legacy idea

To help us on our legacy journey, we’ve outlined 4 key criteria for ideas that align to our Games legacy.

Legacy ideas will:

  • accelerate Brisbane’s environment, lifestyle, transport, community and economy
  • deliver before and beyond the Games through sustainable long-term outcomes
  • extend beyond venues to provide a more equitable Brisbane where everyone benefits
  • be uniquely Brisbane by building the city’s global identity while enhancing our subtropical lifestyle and distinct characteristics.

The ideas generated will help shape a future City of Brisbane Legacy Plan. We will work with the community, businesses, industry and other government agencies to create a Brisbane of tomorrow that's even better than the Brisbane of today.

Frequently asked questions

Brisbane Making our Mark is our legacy engagement program. We are inviting you to share your voice on initiatives, programs and ideas that we could include in legacy planning as Host City of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

"Legacy includes the long-term benefits (tangible and intangible) of the Olympic Games that serve the host city, its people, and the Olympic Movement before, during and long after the Olympic Games.
The Olympic Games can leave an array of legacies within a host city, covering not only sport but also social, economic and environmental gains. Some benefits can be experienced well before the Opening Ceremony even takes place while others may not be seen until years after the Games have ended."
The International Olympic Committee

We are committed to leading local legacy initiatives to ensure the incredible opportunities presented by hosting the Games are maximised and delivering lasting benefits for Brisbane residents and businesses.

The Games is our catalyst to enhancing our environment, lifestyle, community and economy, creating opportunities for generations to come.

We will review all ideas and, where appropriate, identify pathways that could include:

  • viability and feasibility studies
  • sharing with relevant industry bodies or partners to develop further
  • referring to other organisations (public and private) for consideration
  • inclusion in our City of Brisbane Legacy Plan for delivery in partnership with external agencies including government and business.

We are playing a major role in getting the city ready for the Games, from city activations and visitor services, through to traffic management and waste services.

We're also delivering legacy outcomes for residents, the community and businesses in the lead up to, and in the 10+ years beyond the Games. We are collaborating with all levels of government and organisations to bring the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games to life.
