Hilltop Avenue Local Access Network Improvements project – Chermside
We're completing safety and accessibility improvements on Hilltop Avenue and Rode Road in Chermside.
Our Local Access Network Improvements program delivers important upgrades to ensure our suburbs are safe and accessible for all road users, particularly pedestrians.
This project will include:
- installing a pedestrian refuge island on Rode Road east of Hilltop Avenue
- installing a pedestrian splitter island on Hilltop Avenue at Rode Road
- upgrading kerb ramps and small sections of footpath on approach to the new pedestrian refuge islands
- installing a new streetlight on the western side of Hilltop Avenue
- painting associated line marking, including yellow ‘No Stopping’ lines.
Works will take place from late April to late May 2025, between 7pm to 5am, Sunday to Thursday, weather and site conditions permitting.
These works are required to be undertaken at night when traffic volumes are lowest, to ensure the safety of workers and road users and to minimise disruption.
If you live in or are travelling through the area, you may notice:
- increased noise, dust, vibration and vehicles
- changed traffic conditions, including footpath and lane closures, and reduced speed limits
- traffic controllers and signage onsite.
On-street parking within the works area will not be available while construction is underway.
