We’ve completed construction of a new car park on Illaweena Street to improve access to Stretton State College Primary Campus.

  • Safe and accessible parking for parents and carers of students at Stretton State College.
  • Increased efficiency and travel time reliability during peak periods at Illaweena Street and Gowan Road intersection.

The completed works included:

  • construction of a new 54‑space car park on Illaweena Street
  • extension of the right‑turn pocket on Illaweena Street to increase capacity at the intersection with Gowan Road
  • installation of a new traffic island in the centre of Illaweena Street
  • installation of yellow no stopping lines on both sides of Illaweena Street to improve safety and traffic flow
  • construction of a new footpath linking the car park to Gowan Road.

These improvements have made roads safer and improved access and parking for parents, carers and school visitors.

This project was jointly funded by Brisbane City Council and the Queensland Government through the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program.
