Keating Park upgrade project – Indooroopilly

Link copied

We’re improving Keating Park in Indooroopilly to support a growing community with quality places to play, relax and connect.

We’ve developed a draft concept plan that reflects your feedback and our design assessments, to enhance Keating Park as a welcoming, well-loved space for the Indooroopilly community, now and into the future.

During the initial community engagement in November 2025, we heard how much you value the park’s leafy character and shade, its role as a place for families and friends to gather and play and the importance of feeling safe and comfortable when spending time there. You also suggested activities and recreational opportunities you would enjoy at Keating Park.

Building on this input, we’re now moving into the next stage of planning together.

In November 2025, we invited the community to share ideas and feedback to help inform the concept design for Keating Park.

Your feedback highlighted key themes and areas to consider, including:

  • improving facilities to support social gatherings and longer stays
  • enhancing play and activity zones for different ages
  • retaining and enhancing landscaping and shade
  • improving pedestrian connections and paths
  • supporting a park that feels safe, comfortable and welcoming for everyday use.

Draft concept plan

The draft concept plan explores a range of potential ideas and opportunities to guide future improvements, including:

  • upgraded and additional facilities, such as seating and shade,
  • amenities block to support recreation activities and extended social gatherings
  • upgraded play equipment for different age groups and abilities
  • informal sport and activity spaces for healthy and active communities
  • improvements to paths and connections within the park to support walking, and gentle recreation
  • opportunities to improve safety, accessibility and comfort for people using the park
  • improved park layout to separate quiet and active zones.

We aim to balance local perspectives with the broader community benefit, now and into the future. We consider community feedback carefully, alongside technical advice, site constraints, safety, accessibility and funding requirements.

Have your say

We now invite you to share your feedback on the draft concept plan either online or in person at our community information sessions:

  • Sunday 24 May, 9-11am, Keating Park
  • Thursday 4 June 2.30-4.30pm, Keating Park.

Feedback closes at 11.59pm on Sunday 7 June 2026.

You can view the draft concept plan in the resources.
