Keating Park upgrade project – Indooroopilly
We’re improving Keating Park in Indooroopilly to support a growing community with quality places to play, relax and connect.
We’ve developed a final concept plan to guide future improvements to Keating Park in Indooroopilly. The plan reflects what you’ve shared with us and explores ways to enhance the park, so it remains a welcoming and well-loved space for the community, now and into the future.
The final concept plan proposes new features including:
- a playground for different abilities, age groups and sensory play
- a small and large picnic shelter, and additional seating
- a toilet block with accessible cubicle and baby change table
- an accessible drinking fountain with dog bowl
- a multi-use sports court with fencing
- a bike rack
- individual fitness equipment.
In our early engagement in November 2025, you told us how much you value the park and playground area. You also shared helpful ideas about how the space could be improved.
We used this feedback to shape a draft concept plan, which we shared with the community for consultation in June 2026. The draft explored a range of ideas to guide future improvements including:
- upgraded and additional facilities, such as seating and shade
- new amenities block to support extended stays and social gatherings
- upgraded play equipment for different age groups and abilities
- informal sport and recreation spaces that support healthy, active communities
- improvements to paths and connections within the park to support walking and gentle recreation
- opportunities to improve safety, accessibility and comfort for park users
- improved park layout that supports both quiet and active recreation.
During consultation, we heard:
- strong support for the park upgrade, with emphasis on upgrading the children’s playground and basic park amenities to support longer visits and social gatherings
- feedback on improving facilities for everyday use, such as more sheltered seating, drinking fountains and amenities spread throughout the park
- feedback on active recreation opportunities, including outdoor fitness equipment for various ages
- general support for the proposed toilet block, to enable longer stays and social gatherings
- support for a multi-use active zone
- some concerns about safety and accessibility when moving through and around the park
- feedback to continue protecting the trees and the park’s character.
We aim to balance local priorities with broader community benefits, both now and into the future.
Planning is continuing for the upgrades at Keating Park in 2026. Funding has been allocated to progress delivery of the upgrades in a staged approach, with construction of the first stage expected to commence in mid-2027.
