Community information session postponed

This afternoon’s Kedron Safer School Precinct community information session from 2-4pm on Cremorne Road, Kedron is being postponed until 2-4pm on Wednesday 28 October due to flash flooding warnings from the Bureau of Meteorology.

We're creating Safer School Precincts in Brisbane suburbs. This will improve safety and make it easier to move around our schools and local streets.

The Kedron Safer School Precinct supports the following schools and surrounding community:

Padua College
St Anthony's Primary School
Mount Alvernia College.

Late 2024: Community engagement completed.
Late 2026: Co-design of precinct plan with schools and key stakeholders complete.
October 2026: Community feedback on precinct plan.
December 2026: Construction expected to start.
Term 4 2026: School empowerment to support school communities to transition using new infrastructure.

In late 2024, we asked the community for feedback about their experiences travelling through the precinct. This included feedback on safety concerns, opportunities for improvement and challenges the community faced.

Community safety concerns focused on:

unsafe driver behaviour and speeding
high numbers of cars on the road
rat running
the need for more pedestrian crossings and footpaths.

This feedback was used to prioritise design treatments, alongside insights from technical investigations and modelling conducted by our engineering and design teams. During the design phase we worked closely with Mount Alvernia College, Padua College and St Anthony's Primary School to revise and refine the draft plan and ensure it met community needs.

Feedback closes at midnight on 1 November 2026.

Community information session postponed

After consultation has closed, we will consider the feedback and finalise the plan. We will share the final plan and construction details with the community before construction starts.

Works are scheduled to start from December 2026 with completion anticipated in mid-2027, depending on weather, site conditions and finalisation of the plan.

From term 4, 2026 our Active School Travel team will work closely with schools in the precinct. This is part of the school empowerment phase, where we’ll be supporting school communities with behaviour change strategies and resources to make the most of the new infrastructure.
