We're enhancing Mt Gravatt Centre with more opportunities to live, work and play.

About the plan

Why this plan matters

Brisbane is one of Australia’s fastest-growing capital cities and we’re working with communities to help deliver new homes sooner, while protecting the lifestyle that makes our city so special.

Planning for well-designed suburbs with more housing choice close to transport, employment, services and infrastructure is important to grow sustainably. Learn more about suburban renewal precincts.

Why Mt Gravatt Centre?

Mt Gravatt is a vibrant and culturally diverse Brisbane suburb. It has excellent public transport and easy access to parks, the Logan Road shops, Mt Gravatt Showgrounds and Mt Gravatt Outlook Reserve.

The draft Mt Gravatt Centre Suburban Renewal Precinct Plan outlines an exciting long-term vision for the suburb with a view to revitalising the popular Logan Road corridor and providing a broader range of housing options for the neighbourhood.

It is based on technical investigations, initial community ideas and supporting updates to the Mt Gravatt corridor and Holland Park — Tarragindi district neighbourhood plans.

Community consultation

The draft precinct plan was released for consultation from 14 November to 14 December 2025 and sought to:

  • embrace the area’s outdoor lifestyle and subtropical character
  • expand opportunities to reinvigorate the local economy
  • allow more housing to be built
  • maximise connections to public transport and amenities.

Thank you to everyone who submitted feedback.

We have carefully considered each submission and propose changes to the draft precinct plan in response.

Proposed changes in response to community feedback

Key proposed changes to respond to community feedback (subject to Queensland Government review) include:

  • reductions in maximum allowable building heights in some locations, as shown in the proposed building heights changes document
  • changes to requirements for landmark sites to clarify deep planting requirements
  • changes to the requirements for arcades to align with other precinct plans
  • changes to setbacks for consistency with the Centre or mixed use code or Multiple dwelling code
  • changes to active frontage requirements and mapping.

Supporting documents (post-consultation)

The consultation report includes a summary of matters raised in submissions, and a response to how these have been considered.

Submitters will be provided with a unique submission reference number, which can be used to identify Council’s response to their feedback in the consultation report.

What happens next

The Queensland Government will now review the updated draft plan, which may be subject to further changes.

If approved, Council will make its final decision about adopting the amendment into City Plan to guide and assess property development.

At the completion of this stage of the process, the community will be able to view the final adopted amendments.
