Get ready for hassle-free day out that's fun with kids in Brisbane.

Who says that finding a kid-friendly spot in Brisbane is a challenge? From fun events and activities to amazing parks, playgrounds and open spaces, family time in Brisbane is a breeze.

So, pack that nappy bag, fill up those water bottles, and get ready for a day out that's fun for every family member.

1. Brisbane Powerhouse and New Farm: Riverside fun

New Farm is a must-do for families.

On Saturdays, Brisbane Powerhouse hosts the Jan Powers Farmers Markets. Stroll the market stalls and introduce your kids to new foods and flavours. Grab some tasty treats and enjoy a picnic in New Farm Park. Unwind and relax while your kids run and play in the wooden fort-style playground.

Check the Brisbane Powerhouse’s what's on calendar for family fun through the year including festivals, events, exhibitions and more.

New Farm's riverside vista makes it the perfect spot for a pram walk or a bike/scooter ride along the Brisbane River. If the kids are tired, hop on one of our CityCats and cruise to the next destination.

2. Howard Smith Wharves: Park up

Your kids will love the ship-themed playground at Howard Smith Wharves. Sit back, relax and enjoy a fresh beverage while you watch them play.

Plan your trip on a Sunday when Felons hosts its weekly Community Family Fun Day. Kids can eat for free and there’s plenty of kids' activities such as face painting, a reptile show and family trivia.

3. West Village: Creative flair

If you have creative kids, Metro Arts in West Village has drama workshops throughout the year to spark their imagination. While they’re in class, enjoy the thought-provoking exhibitions on display in the galleries.

After class, treat your kids to delicious gluten-free donuts at Nodo, homemade gelato at Anita Gelato, or fresh juice at Orange Juice Bar.

4. Gasworks Plaza: Urban adventures

Gasworks Plaza in Newstead is perfect for catch-ups with your parents’ group. There's plenty of open space for the kids to run around.

Meet up with your crew and grab a burger at Milky Lane, frozen yogurt at Yo-Chi or cold-pressed juice from Bubble Boy.

Let the kids play in Gasometer Park - you might even finish your chat with friends without interruptions!

At night, markets often brighten the Plaza. The Twilight Markets support local artists and there are seasonal markets for events like Easter and Mother's Day.

5. Fortitude Valley: Fun for all

Time to relive those days in Fortitude Valley, but let's make it kid friendly!

Test your skills in the arcade at B Lucky & Sons or challange the kids to mini-golf at Holey Moley.

After burning off some energy, take a walk through the iconic Valley laneways. California Lane, Bakery Lane, and Winn Lane have plenty of hidden gems to discover.

Grab takeaway treats from local favorites like Sprout or Brooki. Then, go to New Farm Park for a relaxing picnic.

6. Manly Harbour Village: Relaxed outing

Check out Manly Harbour Village for relaxing vibes and kids’ entertainment. The village has many weekly and bi-weekly events. These include the Manly Creative Markets and Jan Powers Farmers Markets where you can buy local art, crafts, and fresh produce.

When you hit that mid-morning slump, stop by Groundhog Social for a delicious coffee. You can even grab lunch while you’re there before taking the kids to Bayside Park for some outdoor fun.

With ideal weather in Brisbane nearly all-year round, there’s plenty of opportunities to enjoy Movies in the Park, or stroll around the foreshore plaza to take in the soothing light projections of sea life. Created by North Stradbroke Island artist Delvene Cockatoo-Collins, with Council support, these artworks feature Manly’s natural history.

7. Camp Hill Marketplace: A family favourite

Camp Hill Marketplace is the go-to spot for families who want to combine shopping with fun.

Enjoy delicious salads from Botanica Real Food, or try fresh pastries and desserts at Jocelyn’s Provisions. Afterwards, stop by the nearby play areas at Whites Hill Reserve so the kids can burn off their energy.
