About Vibrantly Vacant decals
Are you a property owner or agent with a vacant shop for lease?
If you need help attracting new tenants, you can apply for temporary decals. These decals will be displayed on your premises’ windows.
The themed artworks make vacant shopfronts more visually appealing. They highlight the store's potential business use and improve the streetscape.
The Vibrantly Vacant decals are installed by Council's supplier at no cost and without requiring access inside the premises.
Vibrantly Vacant decal themes
There are 7 decal themes to choose from. They were designed by Brisbane artist Ingrid Bartkowiak to highlight the potential for a:
- plant store
- cafe
- food business
- boutique
- beauty salon
- office
- bookstore.
The decals can:
- be placed around existing 'For Lease' signage
- be positioned to maintain visibility to the interior of the premises so prospective tenants can see into the space
- ignite thinking about possible uses for the tenancy
- reduce the likelihood of graffiti or vandalism.

Eligibility criteria
To be eligible, the shopfront must be:
- vacant for a minimum of 6 weeks
- advertised for lease
- suitable for displaying decals (i.e. with glass display windows or doors)
- in the Brisbane Local Government Area
- ground level and street-facing. Customers should enter directly from the street or an outdoor pedestrian mall. It cannot be part of a shopping centre or indoor mall.
How to apply
Complete the online form to apply for this program.
You’ll need to:
- select your preferred decal theme
- attach a photo of the shopfront.
After you apply
We’ll contact you and provide a short-form agreement for signature.
Council will then arrange for the supplier to install the decals.
After the shop is leased, let us know and we’ll arrange for the decals to be removed.
