Reducing waste and ensuring we're recycling when we're at work or in the community helps create a clean and green Brisbane.

We can do this by encouraging our colleagues and workplace to recycle effectively, visiting and volunteering at our local community composting hub and recycling when we're out and about.

Council offers the Waste Smart Kindy program, recycling bins, and teacher resources to help schools minimise waste.

Council has partnered with community gardens around Brisbane to help residents reduce the amount of waste they send to landfill and create rich compost for use in the community gardens. Registered participants can donate their food scraps at their local community composting hub.

Council is committed to reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill in Brisbane by encouraging reuse, repair, upcycling and sharing as a key opportunity to build a cleaner, greener and more sustainable city.

The waste hierarchy is a list of waste management strategies. It is an internationally recognised approach to reducing waste by extracting the maximum use from products.
