Housing Support Program 2017-18 grant recipients

The following Housing Support projects were approved in 2017-18.

Successful recipients within the inner north of Brisbane receive funding for projects and services that respond to the housing and social needs of homeless people, or those living in social housing.

Two organisations received funding for a total funding amount of $19,595.

Communify Queensland Ltd
HART 4000 are an assessment and referral team that provides housing advocacy and support for people experiencing homelessness or those at risk of homelessness in Brisbane. The ‘Get a Head Start with HART’ project will support individuals and families in the inner north Brisbane region to transition successfully from homelessness into a tenancy in social housing. Participants of the project will receive ‘Welcome to Your Home’ packs that will include essential home start-up items, as well as information and support through HART 4000. It is expected that this project will alleviate some of the financial stress associated with moving into a property, as well as increase the capacity for participants to be able to be sustain their new tenancies.
Second Shot Pty Ltd
Second Shot operates a fleet of mobile coffee vans that employ, train and empower young homeless individuals. The project will assist with the redevelopment of the Second Shot’s current training program. This will be completed by engaging a professional non-for-profit training consultant who will convert the current ad hoc training material and approach, into a professional offering, increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of the training program.
