Housing Support Program 2019-20 grant recipients

The following Housing Support projects were approved in 2019-20.

Successful recipients within the inner north of Brisbane receive funding for projects and services that respond to the housing and social needs of homeless people or those living in social housing.

Three organisations received funding for a total amount of $21,950.

Organisation Project Amount approved
Communify Queensland Ltd for New Farm Neighbourhood Centre  This project will provide a series of free workshops delivered in the Neighbourhood Centre. It is designed to support individuals, who are homeless or in housing stress or living in inadequate housing. It will teach peaceful communication and non-violent communication, and help people better manage their responses to difficult situations to assist with sustaining tenancies. $9,300
North West Youth Accommodation Service This project will support young people who are sleeping rough (or couch surfing) in the selected inner north suburbs. It will provide phones, mobile phone credit and go cards, delivered as part of a safety plan for young people who require crisis or immediate accommodation. These items are required to ensure they attend appointments to gain housing in a safer location instead of having to sleep rough. $2,650
The Lady Musgrave Trust This project will fund housing support with a six-month specialist support program for (up to four) women and (up to eight) children during a 12-month period. The Lady Musgrave Trust has two units available for urgent accommodation for people leaving a domestic or family violence situation. The specialist support counselling services are available for young women (under the age of 30) and their children. It provides them with essential skills, such as setting goals and formal progress plans. $10,000
