Information for existing signs licensees
You can apply to transfer an existing sign licence between licensees, and change, cancel and renew sign licenses.
Transferring a licence
Existing advertisement licenses can be transferred between licensees. A transfer application must be made by the existing licensee.
To transfer a licence, you can complete the Application for Advertising Sign Approvals online form and pay the fee with Mastercard or Visa. You will need the licence number/s for the advertising sign/s you want to transfer.
Change a licence
If you want to make a change to an existing advertising signs licence, you need to apply to Council.
To amend a licence you can complete the Application for Advertising Sign Approval online form. You will need the licence number/s for the advertising sign/s you want to amend and you will have the option to upload supporting documents outlining the proposed amendment.
Cancel a licence
To cancel an existing advertising signs licence, you can complete the Licence or Permit surrender application online form.
A renewal notice will be posted to you before the expiration of your current approval. An annual licence fee is applicable for all permitted advertisements. if you change your postal address or require a copy of your approval, contact Council.
Advertisement permits are valid for a period of one year except for the following sign types:
- business promotion sign – a permit is valid for a maximum of 14 days within any 90 day period
- temporary inflatable sign – a permit is valid for a maximum of 21 days within any 26 week period.
Unless the permit or instrument of approval states otherwise, the permit is renewable annually up to five times provided the conditions of approval are met and the renewal fee is paid annually. Where the supply and installation of the advertisement exceeds $25,000, the permit may be renewed up to nine times subject to Council approval.
