Changing ownership and updating records

When properties are bought or sold, rates accounts and other permits or licences need to be adjusted to reflect the new ownership or new address.

Changing ownership details

Council changes its land ownership records after receiving official notification from the Queensland Government's Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy.

Council cannot accept change of ownership details from the new owner.

Brisbane City Council charges a Rate Account and Services Establishment Fee to establish a new rate account when a property transfers ownership.
