>> SHELLY: Hi and welcome my name is Shelly and I’m the Team Leader at the Inala Library. I’m sorry you can’t be with us in the library today, but instead, we are going to come to you at home.

So today we are going to start with our Welcome to Country.

Here is the land, Here is the Sky, Here are my friends and Here am I.

Great job everyone.

Let’s start today's session with a song. Do you all know the words to 'Five Little Ducks'? I’ve got my little duck here. If you’ve have a little duck, you can pick that one up. We will start with our five on our fingers. So we'll count them to get to five first. One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Are we ready?

(Singing) Five little ducks went out one day,
over the hills and far away,
Mama duck said quack quack quack quack,
but only four little ducks came back.

Four little ducks went out one day,
over the hills and far away,
Mama duck said quack quack quack quack,
but only three little ducks came back.

Three little ducks went out one day,
over the hills and far away,
Mama duck said quack quack quack quack,
but only two little ducks came back.

Two little ducks went out one day,
over the hills and far away,
Mama duck said quack quack quack quack,
but only one little duck came back.

One little duck went out one day,
over the hills and far away,
Mama duck said quack quack quack quack,
but none of the five little ducks came back.

Mama duck went out one day,
over the hills and far away,
Mama duck said quack quack quack quack,
and all of the five little ducks came back.

That was great! Give yourselves a great big clap. Alright, so now we are going to read a story. It’s called Whitney and Britney Chicken Divas. It’s a super fun story about chickens, and it’s written by Lucinda Gifford. This is it here. So Whitney and Britney love to dance and sing and dress up, and so to read our story today I am going to put on my dress-up costume. So if you have one at home you can put on your dress-up costume first. First I’ve got my fancy tiara, and then I’ve got some beads, and then I’ve got my favourite feather boas. You might have a favourite costume as well. Ok, so now we’re ready. Let’s go.

Whitney and Britney Chicken Divas, by Lucinda Gifford. This is them on the front here. They’ve got their tiaras on as well.

[reading book] Whitney and Britney are two gorgeous chooks, fluffy and silky with stunning good looks.

Have you ever seen a chicken that’s pink or blue?

[reading book] They live with the elegant Dora von Dooze...

So Dora lives in here in her house, and the chickens live over in their little house on the same yard.

[reading book] ...from morning till night-time the chickens just snooze! "Wake up darling chickens!" says Dora perplexed. "I want your sweet company, not just your eggs.!"

Do you like eggs from chickens?

[reading book] But Whitney and Britney doze on, counting sheep. So what are they doing when Dora’s asleep?

What do you think they could be doing? I bet it’s something fun.

[reading book] At nine every night the chooks leap to their feet. They hop over fences and flap down the street. Down to Club Sparkles they have to be fast.

I wonder why they have to be fast?

[reading book] "Come in!" says Miss Razzle, "you’re on at half past!"

They must be performing a show.

[reading book] So on go the sequins, tiaras and bling. The curtain goes up and the chooks start to sing.

Look at them there on the stage, they’ve got their microphones, and they are wearing feather boas too.

[reading book] What a performance – the crowd’s in a fever! It’s Whitney and Britney the great Chicken Divas.

Look at them there, all dressed up ready to perform.

[reading book] Back in their yard with sore wings and tired legs, the kind Chicken Divas lay Dora two eggs.

That’s for her brekkie for when she gets up.

[reading book] "Morning!" says Dora as she pops by the coop. But Whitney and Britney are utterly pooped. "Dozing again?" Dora says with a sigh. Then a gleaming pink sequin catches her eye.

[reading book] And whats this pink boa? And this sparkly ring? And can that be glitter on Whitney’s left wing? Dora is thinking, "Tonight I will snoop!"

[reading book] So later that evening, she peaks into the coop. "I knew it!" thinks Dora. "They’re out having fun. I’m getting my glad rags. The night is still young!"

So she’s got her box of dress ups too. She’s going to get ready and go out.

[reading book] It’s late at Club Sparkles and in the front row, a secretive stranger is watching the show.

Who do you think that could be?

[reading book] And Whitney and Britney are taking the floor. They wow and they dazzle! The crowd claps for more!

[reading book] "Such wonderful chooks!" cheers this stranger. "Yippee!" But who is this stranger the crowd turns to see?

Do you know who it is?

[reading book] It’s Dora von Dooze, the famous performer. And Whitney and Britney see their dear Dora.

[reading book] They rush to embrace her sobbing with wonder. And then, being divas, they sing a jazz number.

[reading book] Hurrah! Hurrah for the divas! Now Dora still lives with her two gorgeous chooks, fluffy and silky with stunning good looks. And during the day they all snooze and rest.

[reading book] But once the night falls, they are Foxy and the Chickettes.

They’re all dressed up ready to go out and perform. What a great story! Thank you for listening to me read it to you.

So how about now we sing another song together? How about we sing 'Old Macdonald had a Farm'? That sounds like a great song.

So first on our farm, I’ve got some farm friends here. We’ve got a pig. Do you know what sound a pig makes? "Oink oink", that’s right. And then we’ve got a goat. A goat says "bleat bleat". Can you do that noise? And then we’ve got a dog, and a dog says "woof woof". And then we’ve got a sheep, and a sheep says "maa maaa". And then last we’ve got...whats that one? It’s a cow and the cow says "moo". So are we ready, here we go!

(Singing) Old MacDonald had a farm,
ee ii ee iii oo.
And on that farm, he had a pig,
ee ii ee ii oo.
With a oink oink here
and a oink oink there,
here an oink there an oink,
everywhere an oink oink .
Old Macdonald had a farm
ee ii ee ii oo

And on that farm, he had a goat,
ee ii ee ii oo.
With a bleet bleet here
and a bleet bleet there,
here a bleet there a bleet,
everywhere a bleet bleet .
Old Macdonald had a farm
ee ii ee ii oo

And on that farm, he had a dog,
ee ii ee ii oo.
With a woof woof here
and a woof woof there,
here a woof
there a woof,
everywhere a woof woof . Old Macdonald had a farm
ee ii ee ii oo

And on that farm, he had a sheep,
ee ii ee ii oo.
With a maa maa here
and a maa maa there,
here a maa there a maa,
everywhere a maa maa .
Old Macdonald had a farm
ee ii ee ii oo

And on that farm, he had a cow,
ee ii ee ii oo. With a moo moo here
and a moo moo there,
here a moo there a moo,
everywhere a moo moo .
Old Macdonald had a farm
ee ii ee ii oo

That was great everyone! Give yourself a great big clap. So now its time to say goodbye. So we’ll see you back at the library when we reopen and for our goodbye song we will sing 'Open Shut Them'. Do you all know that one? So we’ve got our hands ready

(Singing) Open shut them open shut them
give a little clap
Open shut them open shut them
lay them in your lap
Wave them wave them
wave them wave them
wave them just like this

Wave to me I’ll wave to you
let’s all wave goodbye together

Bye!
